International Day of the Girl Child
Pad Production Update
Since our inception our mission has been to make high-quality, earth-friendly, biodegradable pads that are both functional and comfortable for the women and girls of rural Cameroon. We owe a large portion of our success to our world-wide community of donors, volunteers, team members and supporters. For this reason, it is important to us that we update our community about both the successes and challenges along the way.
The materials used to produce our menstrual pads come from India. Unfortunately, the quality of the material in our most recent shipment was inferior to that of our first shipment. This caused issues with the pad production process while also affecting the quality of pads, so we have made the decision to pause production until we can resolve the matter. We are currently working with the distributor in India on a shipment of new material to improve production.
We are fortunate to have reserves of pads that we are distributing to students during our menstrual health education presentations that continue to be a strong pillar of PridePads’ programming. Our educators are more motivated than ever to visit students in schools! In fact, on Tuesday October 11th, PridePads staff presented menstrual health education and handed out biodegradable pads to 300 students at Lycee de Sabongari in celebration of the 10th annual International Day of the Girl Child.
In the face of these challenges, we stand strong and will work hard to continue producing high-quality and reliable pads for Cameroonian menstruators. Thank you for supporting PridePads– this has been an incredible journey thus far, and we cannot wait to show you what lies ahead in the next chapters of PridePads Africa!
