Celebrating International Women’s Day

Celebrating International Women’s Day

On March 8th of every year, we celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD) which recognizes women’s achievements around the world. The United Nations began celebrating March 8th as International Women’s Day in 1975. In the nearly four decades that have followed, they have made incredible progress on promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment worldwide. For this year’s International Women’s Day, we will be highlighting some new and exciting projects that the PridePads Africa team have recently undertaken.

To celebrate International Women’s Day, our team in Cameroon will be participating in a march in Ngaoundéré during which they will carry a PridePads banner. During the celebration we will be selling pads and handing out educational materials. PridePads will also be featured on the local radio station in Ngaoundéré. In addition to participating in the march, the team will be visiting an orphanage to distribute pads, alongside the Regional Delegate of Women Empowerment and Family, and providing a mini education seminar to those who receive the pads. Be sure to follow us on social media @PridePadsAfrica to see photos from the day!

Currently, one of our Board Members, Derek, is on the ground in Ngaoundéré providing us with weekly progress updates on production and happenings at the facility. Since arriving in Cameroon, Derek, and our Operations Manager in Cameroon, Macbride, have brought on four additional women to our team! These women will be learning the pad production process and will also be trained to conduct our education seminars in schools and community groups. We have a couple scheduled school visits coming up and are looking forward to meeting all the young students!

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who continues to support PridePads Africa, as we could not continue our work without you. We look forward to sharing our continued progress in 2022. Continue to help the young girls and women in Cameroon and the continuation of learning, by donating to PridePads Africa today. Donate Here

Happy International Women’s Day!

With Gratitude,

The PridePads Africa Board of Directors and Committee Members
