Back to School with PridePads Africa
As a new school year approaches, the PridePads Africa Board is delighted to share how we’re helping girls in Cameroon step into the 2025-2026 school year with confidence, dignity, and the tools they need to succeed - in and out of the classroom.
First, we’re happy to report that as of August 15, our menstrual health education seminars have already reached more than 2,500 students, and this effort continues to grow. Using the PridePads Menstrual Health Curriculum, our Cameroon-based team is helping girls in Ngaoundéré feel confident in their bodies, understand the changes they experience each month, and celebrate menstruation as the foundation of life. The curriculum provides practical hygiene and self-care tips, safety guidance, and information about PridePads Africa and pad distribution.
In addition, we’re working on the creation of a Menstrual Health Education Leave-Behind with the hope to roll it out early in the 2025-2026 school year. The goal is that these educational materials, combined with the distribution of menstrual supplies, will better equip girls for success in school.
Did you know that girl students in Ngaoundéré regularly miss an average of five to seven days of school per month because of their period? This equates to missing 20% of instruction time annually. Menstrual supplies are an important but often overlooked school supply for many girls in Cameroon, and can make the difference between receiving an education or dropping out early.
Here in Boulder, CO, the PridePads Africa team will be gathering school supplies to take with us on our next board visit to Cameroon (summer 2026). Wallaroo Hat Company is holding their annual warehouse sale on September 11th and 12th and will be asking customers to kindly bring donations of markers, pencils, crayons, and more. If you want to help donate, please come by the sale at Wallaroo headquarters.
For just $24, you can provide a student with a year’s supply of pads, helping girls to stay in school while on their period. Menstruation should never be a barrier to education.
Please join the PridePads Africa team as we continue to support girls to stay in school while on their periods.
With Heartfelt Gratitude,
PridePads Africa Board of Directors
